ALMA to Focus on Standards The Association of Loudspeaker Manufacturing & Acoustics (ALMA) International's 2014 Winter Symposium will focus on loudspeaker components and standards. A standards workshop and roundtable discussions will include a first-ever systematic review and demonstration of how the coordination and application of standards and measurements can achieve cost-effective quality control in the loudspeaker/ acoustic design and specification process. The Winter Symposium, "Suppliers Unchained: Maximizing Value from Your Acoustic Component Sources," will be held at The Tuscany Suites & Casino, in Las Vegas, NV, on January 4–5, 2014. The Winter Symposium, the world's largest event entirely dedicated to the loudspeaker industry, will feature educational seminars, technical paper presentations, tutorial sessions, and a special standards workshop. The exhibit floor will showcase industry suppliers from around the world. The now famous "Driver Awards" will be presented to deserving recipients at the annual banquet. A one-day break is scheduled prior to the start of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 7–10, 2014. The additional day provides ALMA exhibitors and attendees with more time to prepare for CES. ALMA's Call for Papers and Tutorials is still open; however, the abstracts submission closing date is October 15, 2013. Presenters will be notified by October 31, 2013. The complete program will be published in early November.
